About the event

The nature of the museum visit is changing: emerging digital technologies are providing different possibilities for how people engage and interact with physical artefacts in museums. At this January event, participants will be provided an overview of emerging 3D printing and digital technologies. There will be a particular focus on how these technologies are being used to engage people into, and re-appropriate museum artefacts and collections. There will also be a practical element at this event, where participants will be provided with the opportunity to actively learn and experiment with digital modelling tools. No previous knowledge of digital and print technologies is necessary.

This workshop is organised by the The Interaction Design Centre (University of Limerick) and the Hunt Museum coinciding with the Limerick City of Culture 2014. The Interaction Design Centre works closely with the Hunt Museum in the meSch project. At the event, the meSch partners will talk about meSch and the main goals of the project.
