Waag Society
Stichting Waag Society (WAAG) is an institute for Art, Science and Technology in The Netherlands. Waag Society develops technology for social innovation. It is an interdisciplinary non-profit media lab researching, developing and experimenting with technology, art and culture. The organisations vision is that technology determines society’s present and future and people have to be able to understand it, use it and influence its course.
Role in the project: Waag Society is responsible for the exploratory lab in which the concept development, user scenario and demo and prototype development and testing take place. Waag Society hosts co-design workshops, public tinkering and showcases in Waag Society’s Fablab. Besides, it co-designs, and implements the authoring tour. Lastly, Waag Society develops service blueprints and a business model.
People involved:
- Dick van Dijk is Director Design Research and Head of the Urban Reality Lab. Dick is responsible for creating interactive concepts, strategizing (and realizing) user involvement and monitoring the development of Waag’s prototypes and products.
- Marloeke van der Vlugt works as an autonomous artist and designer. She is working on interactive performative installations and researches the possibilities of ‘interactive spaces’ in which the audience can interact with the sensor costume of the dancers / performers.
- Karien Vermeulen works as Project Developer education with Waag Society for the Creative Learning Lab.
